Cheshire East Council launches consultation on community governance
Cheshire East is to hold a 12-week consultation on proposals for the governance arrangements for town and parish councils in the borough.
This is part of a borough-wide review, as Cheshire East is responsible for the governance and electoral arrangements for the borough’s 186 town and parish council wards in 135 town and parish councils.
As part of these proposals, it has been recommended to merge the parish of Chorley with Wilmslow and Handforth.
The town and parish councils in each of these respective parishes have all voted to oppose any merger as it is felt that local community identity will be lost through this proposal as well as risking a democratically weaker voice for all the residents in one enlarged Wilmslow Council.
We hope that you feel as strongly opposed to this proposed merger as we do and we ask if you could respond to Cheshire East’s proposals via the following survey link:
Thanking you in advance – Chorley Parish Council
Welcome to the Chorley Parish Council website.
This site has been developed to give the residents of Chorley greater access to their Parish Council.
We hope to regularly update these pages to communicate what the Parish Council wishes to achieve throughout the year and what progress is being made on any current projects or issues which have been raised.
We have already incorporated an archive of the Parish Council minutes from meetings January 2016 onwards and will continue to upload the latest dates and minutes from all the Parish Council meetings onto this site.
We will use the News and Events column to keep you informed about local information and other items which we think are important for you to know. The column will also carry details about what's happening in the area and we encourage the organisers of events to let us know, using the contact form, so we can provide further publicity for your activities.
